Late Seventies BioMaps
These latest maps depict prevalent trips that happened towards the latter end of the 70's for me. Trips between aunt and uncle's house and what would eventually become a new location for my parents to live. This was just before I moved to Los Angeles to go to Art Center College of Design.
We moved from the house where I grew up, to a small ranch property that would be where we lived in a mobile home while we built my parent's new home. It was mostly finished right before I moved down to go to college.
This map is the trip I made everyday while attending MJC. I played basketball there for a year before I realized my days on a bonafide team were coming to an end. I soon took up city league basketball and continued to play the sport until I was about 47 years old. At that time I started playing organized volleyball —a sport I still play and enjoy today.
One of the more endearing maps for me right now is one I made about all of the locations of teams I played against in high school. Known as the Trans Valley League, “TVL” comprised of many small farming communities. Each one had its own personality and crop they claimed to be the “world capital of cherries, apricots or whatever...”

Life Patterns
Continued development of how these patterns of trips and locations maps of my life can overlay to become visuals that are abstract lines and patterns.
These seem to touch on a little bit of what I envisioned, and that's exciting. But they do seem too personal, and not as aesthetic as I had imagined. Possibly by combining the different paths into one composition may bring even more satisfaction.
The incorporation of the word map I have found more that I can contribute to the story.
I have a collection of words that are remarkably flexible in their meaning. Part of an interest I have had regarding the effects of a foreigner trying to learn english. A daunting task. Our use of words in the English language has been filled with multiple meanings and pronunciations. It's as if a person would need to learn a symbol that changes by the context it is placed.

Bio-Pics
This is a test compilation of stills set at 3 frames per image. It is composed of people, places, activities, past jobs, influential artists, various events, memories and locations that summarize my life. With the question of 'how can I display my mind/memories/thoughts to others?'
I am approaching this with the idea of putting in various amounts of “stills-per-thought,” letting particular amounts of frames add up to show levels of my appreciation of those fleeting moments of my life.

Trip Display 3D
This particular experiment is an attempt to compile various trips I have taken in my life. This is comprehensive in a way that it will depict each walk to school, each driven trip to work, each vacation (special location).
These are depicted as a linear shape, cut out and placed onto a bar in a way that they each have their own abstract form. I may color code them as to distance or event.
One thought is to have them relate as equally as possible. A 0.7 mile walk to school will equal a 20 mile drive to work, etc.
Not sure yet as to how this will be displayed, but this concept of having them work like a mobil or linear display to let them move freely is one idea.

Life in Maps Project
In the process of depicting my various homes, paths and distances being traced and then converted into an abstract of my movements in life.
I have been listing out locations and point-to-point trips I made in multiple ways. Walking to school. Walking home to a babysitter. Driving to college. The locations of all of the teams I played against in sports (I had never really looked at the relationships between the different small farming towns we were associated with). Driving to Work. Moving from northern CA to southern CA and the patterns that were derived from that. Also, our life moves from southern CA to Arizona.
